I just want to apologize to those who may be reading and the site changes if it does that I am trying to figure out how to put my book reviews on one page and my lifestyle reviews on another.Brittney
Where is your favorite place to buy books? Lately I have fallen in love with my local goodwill. I was in there the other day, and I found a box set of The Twilight Saga in hardback in pristine condition for 4.99. God bless the person who decided to break up with Edward. I also got several paperback novels for 79 cent each.
Would you give goodwill a try for your next book purchase?
Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
If anyone has seen my moral compass, I would like it back now.
I have got to give my girl Emily Griffin some props for Something Borrowed. She did an amazing job at making me forget cough cough, not care that the romance in this book was wrong on so many levels, by making me root for the couple’s happiness. That is what a romance writer is supposed to do.
A little synopsis
Who is this forbidden couple? Dex and Rachel. They meet in law school. Rachel is the girl who is beautiful but has no clue. Dex, well he is charm and sex in the shape of a man. Rachel has a best friend since diapers, named Darcy. She meets Dex, and the two eventually become engaged. Because well Darcy gets everything Rachel wants. That is until Rachel loses her moral compass and begins an affair with Dex. Don’t worry there is still so much more to the story. I haven’t spoiled anything. Trust me. If you are feeling bad for Darcy, go read the book. You won’t feel bad any more.
My personal thoughts
I feel like Something Borrowed was a little bit of an underdog story. Rachel seemed to learn to take a stand and came out on top despite those keeping her down. If I could take anything away from this book it’s that it is important to fight for your happiness no matter what others might think. Just maybe not in the same scandalous way as Rachel. ‘
Infidelity aside if you are looking for a decent story this would be the book for you

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Queen of Air and Darkness is the third and final installment in Cassandra Clare’s The Dark Artifices. After leaving us all in suspense at the closing or Lord of Shadows, and then making us wait two years to feel whole again, I have to say I am disappointed.
I really thought that Emma and Julian’s love story would end with a big bang, and instead it was subtle and straight to the point. I thought they deserved a little more excitement. Secondly, separating Kit from Ty was beyond cruel. He needed him. His whole shifted the other way.
One thing I did love was the creation of Thule. I loved the idea that the world can be so similar and only one event caused the difference. It is proof that choices matter. I loved that there were some happy endings since LOS had me wanting to stick my head in a jar of ketchup.
I guess what made me not give the book 5 stars is that before the stories would have me on the edge of my seat. This one just didn’t make me feel that rush, that excitement. If I had to use one word to describe it…PREDICTABLE.

Currently I am reading Game of Thrones. Let me rephrase that I am trying to read Game of Thrones, but I keep getting called in on my off day. I am not sure how long it is going to take me to get around to a review, so I thought I would give an update of what I am experiencing right now.
First, I let off at the part where Ned Stark had to murder and innocent dire wolf because the King has no backbone and can’t stand up to his wife. I mean seriously. Plus all of this happened because the Kings son lied. He started it! The dog suffered instead!
Second, My favorite character right now is Tyrion Lannister the dwarf. He is just so blunt and has the language of a sailor and knows it. He is unashamed. Regrets nothing he says and is probably the most honest normal person in the whole book. I hope he does not die.
Thirdly, Jeffry gets on my nerves. He is spoiled and arrogant and just over all a evil human being. Let’s face it he is a brat. Nobody likes a brat. He is my least favorite character of all.
I am sorry about the short undetailed blog, but I felt my readers deserved to know something.
To make up for it here is a pic of the dog my husband and I adopted yesterday!!!!
Fall is a mere days away and I am so excited. It has always been my favoirte time of year. I love the spell of pumpkin spice, cinnomon and apple crisp. I love the cool air in the morning. Most of all I love how cozy the season is. I can imagine nothing better than curling up in a comfy chair and reading for hours.
It is going to take a lot of books to read for that long, and I wanted to share with you guys what I plan to read.
1. I plan to finish reading the one I started around the 5th of September. Game of Thrones. I know a lot of people have watched the show. I tried the show and hated it. I learned it was a book series and thought I would try them. Maybe I am a book girl?
2. My husband has finally learned flowers die, but books live forever. As a wedding present I got an actually book copy of Outlander. I have read it in eBook form, but as we all know there is nothing better than the smell and sound of turning pages. I just need to be able to sit down and prepare my heart for Jamie Fraser.
3 &4 Anyone who knows me knows that I am very proud of books that leave a lasting impact. This is especially true with books published by southern authors like Margret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind. A little less than a year ago I bought Gone with the Wind and Scarlett (Yes there is a sequal). for just 4 bucks at a flea market in Jacksonville, Florida. The lady who sold me them has since closed up shop, but the books still remain on my shelf unread. I feel it is only fitting to pull them out this fall. What do you think?
These are the books I plan to cozy up with this fall. What books are you cozying up with?
Man it has been a while. If you have been wondering, Hey where did Brittney disappear to? Prepare yourself because I am about to shock you. As most of you who have followed Coffee, Books and Bandwagons from the beginning know, I started back at college this year. I was not prepared for all the time it would take up in my day. I began to fall behind on reading, and was not able to provide any reviews, and without the reviews where would my blog be. I decided to take a brief hiatus while I figured out how to fit school into my daily life on top of working and blogging.
My hiatus turned out to be a lot longer than I thought. After moving back to Georgia from West Virginia I moved into a place kind of on my own. I had some roommates. That is not even the big news. Devon and I got MARRIED. My life became completely different. Now I was a wife, and have all those duties to fulfill as well.
But, The good news is I am back, and you can thank my husband for that. He noticed that blogging helped me not stress out so much, and recommended I start doing it again. But now that I am back with my completely changed life, I want you all to know I expect my blog to change as well. I want you to know me as more than just that girl that reviews books for you. I want you to know me as Brittney Pollock trying to ride on this bandwagon we call life. So, don’t be surprised if you see a how to organize you closet or chicken enchilada recipe on here every now and then. This is Coffee Books and Bandwagons after all
